We worked closely with the caretakers and Senior management team at Bryn Celynnog Comprehensive School to locate a suitable room for us to call home. Bryn Celynnog kindly agreed to give us use of their school minibus to collect children from the local primary schools, Llwyncrwn, Gwaunmeisgyn, Ysgol Gynradd Gymraeg Castellau and Ysgol Ty-Coch and return them to buddies.
Following the growing demand for places at Beddau Buddies we quickly outgrew our first home. Bryn Celynnog rose to the challenge again and found us an ample sized unused room in the technology department of the school. In no time at all we had painted, cleaned and customised this room to be our new improved home! Buddies art work covers the walls and our displays show evidence of the many trips and adventures that we have had.
Our room is bursting with play equipment including the ever popular air hockey table, pool table, Nintendo Wii, Xbox Kinect, six computers with internet access including strict web filtering for the childrens safety, multiple roll play areas not to mention the hundreds of games, puzzles and arts and crafts activities that we have! As well as our room, Buddies have use of the Drama Workshop and the enclosed playing fields that are part of the Bryn Celynnog campus.
We are lucky enough to own a 14 seater minibus and offer a collection service from Llwyncrwn Primary, Gwaunmesign Primary and Ysgol Gynradd Gymraeg Castellau. The children are then returned to Buddies where they are offered a snack, a drink of squash or water and a small dessert. After this they are able to take part in either an arts and crafts activity, sports activity, free play or all three if they wish!
Beddau Buddies have a dedicated committee who oversee the running of Buddies. They help us with all important decisions and provide support whenever needed.
